Hi,
I was wondering if there is a flight simulator for the blind; like MS Flight Sim. Is it possible to use MS Sim?
Nathan.
Don't know, but I imagine it wouldn't be much fun anyway, without some sort of motion platform to simulate up, down, left, right, yaw, etc.
I know Jim Kitchen has a dogfighting game. Not sure if that's exactly what you're looking for though. It's not the most advanced thing, either, but it comes in handy to kill a few minutes here and there.
when I was a student at the school for the blind, they had a program called Air Challenge, which allowed us to copilot a small plane.
sorry for veering a little off topic, but I wanted to share that.
Wow, that sounds pretty cool.
I really enjoyed it.
I don't know if its what you're looking for, but there's three D velocity, and
one other one I can't remember the name of. They're both on audiogames.net if
I remember correctly.
I tried typing in that URL, is this site still up? Also, what did they allow you to do with the plane? Just put your hands over the piolit's to feel the controls, or did they actually let you fly it?
Its just an audio game, it isn't a realistic mock up or anything. I don't really
know of any mock up simulators for the blind. Taht would be an incredibly
expensive project, and I'm not sure why the site isn't available. It may just be
down for maintenance.
yes, I got to fly it. I got to wear a headset so the pilot could talk to me/demonstrate how it really works.
I would actually like a game like this for the iPhone, and here is why:
The games I enjoy most are those where I am standing with the iPhone in hand or hands, moving around swinging the iPhone, etc. Sitting at a keyboard with headphones on just isn't quite doing it for me, even though I played Tank Commander and Shades of Doom. both experiences had their virtual reality components, for us totally blind people with good headphones on, but standing, moving, jumping around is really something I like with a game and a controller.
The simulator that Chelsea describes does sound like a lot of fun.
it was an actual plane, leo.
There a free game called zero site.
